‘accede’ 由 ‘ac-’（向，去）+ ‘cede’（走）组成。“走向某个位置”可以联想到“就职、即位”（如登基）；“走向某人的要求”就是“同意、应允”。可以联想一个国王“走向（cede）”王位（ac- 表示方向），就是“accede to the throne”（即位）。
